McFadden Honored
McFadden Sculpture

SDAC Executive Director Brenda Forman was able to attend the dedication of an art sculpture on the SDSU campus in Brookings honoring SDSU wheat breeder Edgar McFadden, who worked to develop a rust-resistant wheat variety. McFadden named his new variety Hope.

The sculpture is named H.O.P.E., a Helix of Resilience: The Life, Journey & Legacy of Edgar S. McFadden.

Speakers at the sculpture dedication included Governor Larry Rhoden, SDSU President Barry Dunn, Jon Kleinjan of the SD Wheat Commission, Jennifer Scharpe of the SD Wheat Growers Association, sculptor Reinaldo Correa, and Dean of Agriculture Joe Cassady.

Forman is pictured with Kevin Hephart, Vice President Emeritus for Research and Economic Development at SDSU.
